Brandon Yanak and Alyssa Andel are local volunteer animal activists with the animal protection organization In Defense of Animals (IDA).  IDA's mission: To end animal exploitation, cruelty, and abuse by protecting and advocating for the rights, welfare, and habitats of animals, and to raise their status beyond that of mere property, commodities, objects, or things. 

Brandon and Alyssa will continue to provide information about animal news that is going on throughout Northeast Ohio.  If you have an animal related event that you would like to share, feel free to contact Brandon & Alyssa at bcyanak@sbcglobal.net with information and details.

Most notably, however, Brandon and Alyssa are responsible for running the Neighborhood Friend of the Week (NFW) program here at WOIO Neighborhoods.  Every Monday, the program introduces new furry friends in Northeast Ohio that need caring homes.  The goal is to help the thousands of abandoned animals in the area find devoted homes and forever guardians with whom they can share their enormous love and receive love in return.  Remember to follow the program each week and please help these animals find good homes.  All past articles can be found in the "Pets" News File.
