Parma Teenager Dives to His Death

Mercan Lyncook, 18, resident of Parma, tragically drowned in the Yellow River in Knox Norfolk, Indiana.  The teen jumped into the river from an abandoned railroad bridge, located near the Knox Norfolk and Southern Depot.  Police estimate that the drowning occurred at approximately midnight on Sunday June 26.

Lyncook was with friends at the time of accident, they phoned Knox Police Department and Indiana Conservation Office to report that Lyncook never resurfaced after he plunged into the river.  His body was found by the Marshall County Dive Team around 2AM.

According to Lyncook’s friends and family, he did not have strong swimming skills.  His weak swimming skills mixed with swift current of the Yellow River led to Lyncook’s eventual death.

Knot to be outdone: Jason Handman goes beyond tying world record

CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - Meteorologist Jason Handman went for a World Record Thursday.

He attempted a Guinness World Record for the most neckties worn around the neck at once.

The world record is 50. 

Attorney Tim Misny and Councilman Zack Reed took time out of their busy schedules to serve as official independent witnesses.

Jason documented his record-setting attempt on video.

The video of Jason putting on each of the standard ties and tying the knots is being sent to Guinness for official confirmation.

Jason had no problem beating the current record, in fact when it was all said and done...Jason put on 131 neckties in 2 1/2 hour span!

Check back in a few weeks and well let you know how he did!
