Real-Time RTA info begins
CLEVELAND -- The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (RTA) introduces real time next bus and train information at http://www.nextconnect.riderta.com starting on June 18, 2012.

RTA NextConnect gives customers the next three times a bus or train will come to your location – in real time. Using GPS technology, RTA is putting live, real-time bus or train information in the hand of their customers. The website allows customers to select a bus or train route, designate a direction and pick their current location; the customer will receive the next three options heading to their stop!

Another feature allows customers to use a Google map to track the current location of a bus or train. Clicking on the bus or stop gives customers detailed stop and vehicle information.

Additionally, customers can sign-up for customized, real-time information. By selecting email notifications, the customer would designate which route they use, the day(s) of the week, direction and frequency of notification. Customers are encouraged to explore the website and see how it can best work for them.

"This is a great feature for our customers; one we're very excited to see launch," said Joe Calabrese, RTA’s General Manager. "Whether you live downtown and are heading to the airport and want to know when to leave, or if you are at home and heading out to catch a bus in the winter and don't want to wait in the snow, or you are leaving the office for home in the afternoon and want to know when the #26 goes by your office, you can get the next three options at any time, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week."For use on a mobile device or smartphone, customers can use the 'Text-Only' version for easier readability. Also, customers can check the section labeled 'About' for all of the NextConnect functionalities. RTA is developing a Frequently Asked Questions as well (coming soon!)

Additional questions can be sent to: nextconnect@gcrta.org or by calling the RTAnswerline at 216.621.9500.

NextConnect real-time will be offered in addition to RTA’s current Commuter Alerts, which send registered rail customers emails or text messages about changes or delays of 10 minutes or more. NextConnect tracks all fixed route buses and trains in the RTA system.

RTA provides quality, economic and safe public transportation via rail, bus and Paratransit throughout Cuyahoga County. Check www.riderta.com for timetables, schedules and route information or call the RTAnswerline at 216.621.9500.
