Benedictine High School’s 22nd Annual Italian Heritage Club Festa

CLEVELAND, OH - The Italian Heritage Club of Benedictine High School will honor former Browns’ head coach Sam Rutigliano as the 2012 “Person of the Year.”   This honor recognizes Mr. Rutigliano for his positive inspiration to young people in his work in professional sports and contributions to the community.  Past honorees include police officer Jim Simone, Judge Salvatore Colandra, Benedictine coach Augie Bossu, Bishop Anthony Pilla and Browns great Dante Lavelli.

The Festa, an annual adult scholarship dinner-dance, will take place in the Benedictine High School cafeteria on Saturday, April 28.  Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for the famous antipasti, and dinner is served at 8 p.m., accompanied by music and dancing.  Sideboards and a Chinese auction also provide some fun for the evening.

All proceeds of the Festa go to the Piunno-Scaravelli and DiCioccio Scholarship Funds of Benedictine High School, which provides financial assistance to promising students.  Since its inception, the Festa has raised $115,000 for this cause.  The scholarships are named after two Benedictine alumni who lost their lives heroically in World War II, Michael Piunno and Samuel Scaravelli, and the Festa’s chief cook and volunteer for the past 20 years, Patti DiCioccio.

Tickets are $35.00 and will only be sold in advance.  No tickets will be sold at the door.  For more information or to order tickets, call (216) 421-2080, X-505.
