The NFW Challenge 2012:   340 / 350 Adoptions

If those big, sweet eyes are not enough to make you fall in love with Bixby, grab a tissue box because his story is a real tear jerker.  One day, in Hocking Hills, Ohio, a terrified pup scrambled out in front of a van.  Luckily, a rescuer was driving.  Bixby was finally coaxed inside, scared, bewildered, and thin.  Someone had dumped him, but Bixby waited beside the road for those people to come back.  It is truly bewildering why he was dumped, as Bixby is a perfect angel.

Today, Bixby’s favorite things are running in the backyard, going for walks in the park, and having his belly rubbed!  He also loves to catch Frisbees and balls and play chase.  He is incredibly adorable and a big cuddle-bug too.

The NFW Challenge 2012:   339 / 350 Adoptions

‘On a cold winter’s night, not a star was in sight, and the north wind kept howlin’ down the streets.  With his rescue so near, stood a brave feline dear with his need to find a home.  He kissed them “hi” with a tear in his eye for the joy in his heart he could not hide.  And the whole world seemed bright when they told him that night that tomorrow he’d be safe and sound.’  And on that cold winter’s night, a tail from the city was born.

Kringle was rescued around Christmas time some holidays ago.  He has not had an easy life, but he does not hold that against anyone.  He is an incredibly sweet, yet shy, guy who will love you unconditionally.  Kringle is just looking for a nice family who will understand his needs and give him the happily ever after he deserves.  He will make all your days merry and bright.

The NFW Challenge 2012:   331 / 350 Adoptions

Mona the Blue-Eyed Feline had a very beautiful personality, and if you ever met her, you would even say she glows.  All of the other felines used to laugh and call her names; they never let poor Mona join in any feline games.  Then one foggy Thanksgiving week, you came to say, Mona with your eyes so bright, won’t you join my home tonight!

It is sad, but Mona was surrendered into rescue because the other cats in her former home used to pick on her.  Nevertheless, you can give Mona the best gift of all – welcoming her into your heart and home.  Her gorgeous blue eyes are matched only by her beautiful personality.  Mona is an incredibly sweet and friendly cat.  She would make a perfect addition for any family looking for a calm and loving lap cat.  She would do best in a home where she is the only cat.  Do not delay; bring this exquisite Mona Lisa home for the holidays today!

To adopt Mona, contact the Animal Rescue Center at 440-942-1753, email animalrescuecenter@yahoo.com, or visit http://www.arc-ohio.org/.

NFW Special Feature: Teddy Still Needs an Angel

NFW Special Feature: Teddy Still Needs an Angel

Friend of the Week is a regular feature to introduce furry Friends in the community who need loving and caring homes.  Teddy is very special and needs a home by Thanksgiving.  If you are interested in adopting Teddy, please fill out an adoption application at www.dogsunlimitedrescue.org.

On Monday, November 12, 2012, the Neighborhood Friend of the Week and 19 Action News brought you the heart-warming story of Teddy on television and in print.  Through our efforts, we even thought Teddy had found two potential homes, but they were not meant to be.  Today, Teddy is still looking for his angel.  He has been through so much and deserves a happily ever after.  Will you be Teddy's holiday angel?!?

Dogs Unlimited Rescue (DUR) is a wonderful rescue organization based out of Pepper Pike, Ohio.  The team at DUR takes in some of the worst cases of animals in need and never gives up on trying to find them a home.  Teddy is no exception.  Upon being rescued, Teddy had 12 untreated kidney stones that had to be removed in surgery.  Now, Teddy is adorably complimented with a cute indoor diaper.  This little guy has one final hurdle – he only has until Thanksgiving to find the guardian who will love him and understand what he has been through.
