Massive Vision Clinic at Quicken Loans Arena Quickly Reaches Limit, People Turned Away

CLEVELAND, OH - A massive eye clinic at the Q was forced to turn people away after reaching their limit of 800 people shortly after opening the doors.

Medworks was planning to keep the clinic open until 6PM, but did not anticipate such a large turnout. People began lining up at 4AM.

MedWorks plans to serve at least 100 patients per hour. Each patient who is in need of glasses will receive a free pair. These glasses will be made on site that day as well as at different locations throughout Ohio and distributed to patients following the event.

The event is staffed by Optometrists, Opticians and Ophthalmologists from all over Ohio. The equipment for the eye exam lanes is being donated by Optics Inc. as well as Onesight.

MedWorks provides care to those who find themselves in need regardless of their income level, citizenship, or geographic residence.

MedWorks is a non-profit organization committed to improving access to healthcare for Ohio's uninsured and underinsured. MedWorks provides an innovative vehicle through which healthcare providers; corporate sponsors and other volunteers can provide free healthcare, education and other services.

This event is made possible by the generous support of our many in-kind corporate sponsors as well as financial support from The Mt. Sinai Foundation, The Cleveland Foundation and The Kaiser Permanente Foundation.
