SWAT, Canton Police arrest suspected barbershop gunman following standoff

CANTON, OH - Canton Police have arrested Jerry L. Rohr, 32, suspected of robbing and shooting a barbershop employee Wednesday evening after a standoff Thursday afternoon.

Thursday afternoon around 1PM, Canton Police and SWAT had a home on Broad Avenue between Fourth and Fifth streets shut down trying to coax Rohr to surrender. Officials first thought there were children inside the home with Rohr, but that was not the case.

Police entered the home around 1:30pm and made their arrest without incident.

According to Canton Police Captain Dave Davis, the male entered A&R Barbershop located 1256 Maryland Ave. SW, around 8 p.m. Wednesday and attempted to rob the business.

During the attempted robbery, one employee was shot. Another employee fired back at the suspect, it's unknown if he was wounded.

Adam Trussel, 32, was transported to Aultman Hospital with a gunshot wound to the leg.
