U.S. Justice Department civil rights specialist to visit Cleveland | Events
Thomas E. Perez, the Assistant Attorney General in charge of the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division, will be in Cleveland on Oct. 12.
Here’s the tentative schedule:
10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.: Interfaith event at Mt. Sinai Baptist church, 7510 Woodland Ave., with leaders from Cleveland’s many faith communities, including Christian, Jewish and Muslim, to talk about the importance of being able to worship free of harassment or persecution.
1-2 p.m.: Speech at Cleveland-Marshall College of Law, done in conjunction with the Norman S. Minor Bar Association.
3:30-5 p.m.: Event with members and leaders of the region’s Latino community at La Familia Sagrada Catholic Church, 7719 Detroit Ave.
5:30-6 p.m.: Meet with leaders of Cleveland’s LGBT community at Cleveland City Hall.
6-7:30 p.m.: LGBT Heritage Celebration at City Hall.
