Saint Luke’s Foundation of Cleveland, Ohio, has announced three additions to its Board of Trustees and appointed two new members of its Executive Committee. Founded in 1997, the Saint Luke’s Foundation is committed to improving and transforming the health and well-being of individuals, families and communities throughout Greater Cleveland.
New trustees appointed to the Board are Francis Afram-Gyening, Arthur Lavin, M.D. and Belva Denmark Tibbs. Afram-Gyening has been a leader in healthcare management with a focus on providing needed services to vulnerable populations for nearly two decades. He currently serves as CEO of the Care Alliance Health Center in Cleveland, the leading non-profit Federally Qualified Health Center providing a wide spectrum of care to underserved populations.
Dr. Arthur Lavin is Owner and Pediatrician of Advanced Pediatrics and is on staff at University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital and Hillcrest Hospital, a part of the Cleveland Clinic network. He also serves as Associate Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. Dr. Lavin is a recognized leader in pediatric medicine and an active champion for many community health initiatives.
Belva Denmark Tibbs is Vice President, Medical Operations for Kaiser Permanente, Ohio, overseeing a $160 million budget and over 1,000 employees. She has over 20 years of experience working in the healthcare industry and an expert in operational efficiency.
On the Executive Committee, Claudia Coulton will serve as Chair, Grant Committee, succeeding Eric Von Hendrix. Janet Burney will serve as Chair, PIE Committee. Thomas Rathbone remains as Chair of the Executive Committee, Douglas Wang will continue to serve as Vice Chair, as will Geraldine H. Burns in her role as Secretary. John P. O’Brien will remain Treasurer and Chair, Finance/Audit Committee; and Baiju R. Shah remains as the Chair of the Governance Committee.
Coulton, who joined the board in 2010, is the Lillian F. Harris Professor of Urban Social Research in the Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences (MSASS), Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, OH. She is also Co-Director of the Center on Urban Poverty and Community Development, which she founded in 1988 to conduct applied research and policy analysis related to urban poverty and community building.
Other Board Members include Francis H. Beam, Jr., Founding Chair; John R. Corlett, Edgar B. Jackson, Jr., M.D., Sandra Kiely Kolb, J. Christopher Manners, Kenneth L. Okeson, Sally J. Staley, Eric Von Hendrix, Margie S. Wheeler and Denise San Antonio Zeman, President and CEO. Honorary Trustees also include Robert W. Akers, Lawrence Albert, Lois G. Brucken, George L.
