Farmers’ Market comes to Public Square | Community Spirit

This summer, local food is coming right to the heart of Downtown. The Downtown Farmers’ Market at Public Square opens its inaugural season this Friday, July 9. The farmers’ market will run Fridays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Located in the northwest quadrant of Public Square across from Old Stone Church, the market will bring fresh, local, healthy food to thousands of downtown employees, residents and visitors. The market will feature a wide variety of food products from local growers and producers. Below is a list of vendors and what they will be offering:
Bonbon Bakery: All-natural, artistically prepared deserts and bakery
Garden Boyz: Produce grown by Cleveland youth learning entrepreneurial and agricultural skills
Green Pastures Poultry: Pastured chicken, duck, turkey and free-range eggs
Hickory Acres Meats of Oberlin: Beef, pork and poultry products with no antibiotics or added hormones
Humble Pie Baking Company: Fresh, homemade pies and granolas with local ingredients and no trans-fats
Morningside Farm: Vegetables, fruits and herbs grown using sustainable, biologically-based methods
Ohio Farm Direct: Grassfed, organic cheeses
Open Door Artisan Bakery: Whole Spelt, vegan and gluten-free breads, muffins and scones
Pancake Maples: Maple syrup and granola produced using sustainable and natural growing methods
Plant Kingdom Bakery: Vegan, organic and gluten-free snacks and bakery
Por-Bar Farms: Heirloom and organic vegetables, fruits, herbs and flowers
Storehouse Tea Company: High-quality, organic, fair-trade loose leaf teas
Wonder City Farm: Vegetables grown on urban farms in Cleveland
Woolf Farms: Fresh and flavorful fruits and vegetables
The Market will also feature free weekly concerts by local musicians from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Musicians are provided by Cuyahoga Community College and funded by Jacob’s Real Estate Services LLC. On July 9, Zach will perform. Born in Parma, Zach now performs over 200 shows a year from coast to coast and has appeared on stage with the likes of Dave Matthews, Neil Young, War, and Chicago. He is a three-time winner of the Best Pop Act in the Cleveland Music Festival and has won two Golden Viking Awards.
The Downtown Farmers’ Market at Public Square is a partnership between the Cleveland-Cuyahoga County Food Policy Coalition, Councilman Joe Cimperman-Ward 3, Downtown Cleveland Alliance and the Historic Warehouse District Development Corporation. It is supported by the City of Cleveland, Cuyahoga Community College, The George Gund Foundation, Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority, Jacob’s Real Estate Services LLC, Old Stone Church and Standard Parking.
